Rumors of a Pilot Episode - Geico Cavemen on TV

Internet news is abound with stories of filming a pilot about the Geico Cavemen. The witty and sarcastic remarks will try to make it on primetime. It is still an uphill road for the cavemen though. Most pilots never actually make it on the air. With good press and their cult like following already in place though, you would think that the execs would at least give it a trial run for a few episodes. I know a lot of people that would tune into the premier episode just to see if it could plossibly be entertaining for a half an hour. Whether the show would actually have staying power to make it more than one season would be a whole other ballgame.

Fortune Magazine discusses the pros and cons of the attempt at the Cavemen series for Geico. It's a fascinating article. You can read it here, but I recommend you pick up a Fortune subscription, it's my favorite business magazine. Everyone agrees that the show is unlikely to be a success. The upside is lots of publicity for Geico. You've been hearing Geico mentioned by talk shows, in magazines and even on the evening news. And all publicity is good publicity. The downside is that the Cavemen have brand equity. A flop may reduce that equity.

Other Caveman Websites

A humorous, and quite well done website, that peers into the life of a modern day caveman can be found at Cavemanscrib.com. By clicking on various objects in the caveman's apartment, you see various activities occur including a Geico ad when you click the television. There is really quite a lot of interaction as you can have him change clothes even!

Another website, apparently also owned by Geico can be found at Upwithcavemen.com. This one is a plea by the cavemen of today's society to end the prejudice and injustice that they have to go through on a daily basis. It is also very humorous.

The Site is Live!

I have finished the site and uploaded it to the server. Hopefully after I post some links and get indexed by the search engines, some legitimate traffic will start coming in for key words like Geico Caveman or Cavemen. I would like to build this up to be a nice sized community with discussions about the future of the Geico Cavemen. Will the cavemen pilot prove successful and create a sitcom? Will people actually watch the sitcom? Who knows whether we will actually be able to site through a half an hour of the Geico Cavemens' dry, yet hilarious witty banter. What....schmart?
